After Using Kiro IDE for a Week, I Uninstalled Cursor!
Hi everyone! I'm sharing my experience with Amazon's Kiro IDE after using it for one week.
In the AI programming space, foreign large language models generally perform better than domestic ones in terms of coding capabilities and user experience. Claude 4.0 is widely recognized as the best programming model currently available.
1. Cursor's Pain Points
Cursor has been shining in the AI programming field, especially after introducing the Agent concept in November 2024. However, after using Cursor to develop 3 applications over half a year, I discovered several issues:
Secretly Modifying Code
Cursor often overwrites completed functionality, causing features to break. This is a critical issue stemming from AI models' context memory limitations.
Reduced Intelligence
To reduce costs, Cursor has limited Claude 4 usage time and reduced token input/output, making it feel less intelligent than before.
Regional Restrictions
Cursor restricts usage in certain regions due to upstream limitations from Claude and OpenAI services.
2. Introducing Kiro IDE
AWS has invested $8 billion in Claude and released Kiro IDE, which includes both Claude 3.7 and 4.0 models. The key advantage is free access to Claude models without restrictions!
Each user gets 1000 conversation turns, and Claude models run without token compression.
3. Kiro's Highlights
Kiro offers two main modes:
Vibe Mode: Chat-based coding where you can implement functionality through conversation.
Spec Mode: Professional mode that automatically generates documentation, breaks down tasks, implements code, and monitors progress.
Additional features include:
- Agent Hooks: Automated triggers for specific events
- Agent Steering: Project-specific standards and context configuration
4. Why I Recommend Kiro IDE

After experiencing Kiro, I'm truly impressed:
- Thoughtful Process: Kiro outputs its thinking process and reads existing code before making changes, reducing the risk of breaking existing functionality.
- Proactive Problem Detection: Kiro actively identifies and fixes issues automatically.
- Team Collaboration: Works seamlessly across different team members, computers, and accounts.
- Beautiful Design: Produces aesthetically pleasing and professional-looking applications.
While Kiro occasionally has conversation interruptions due to high usage, these minor issues don't overshadow its significant advantages.
